Stingrays Team Specific Criteria
We will be looking for athletes who can demonstrate strong all-round skills across all four categories in the selection criteria.
We will also be looking for athletes who demonstrate the strongest skills in a certain category with potential for development in other criteria. For example, an inexperienced athlete with excellent athleticism may gain an invitation to SC2 based on their physical condition IF they have also demonstrated a willingness and ability to implement feedback during the camp, and between camps.
We highly value athletes with a strong commitment to learning. Athletes will be given opportunities within the camp to show their current skill level, they will then be given feedback and/or opportunities to practice and improve specific skills, followed by a final opportunity to demonstrate their improvement over 1 session in a game scenario.
We will be looking for athletes who have used the time between SC1 and SC2 to start building elite athlete training habits and mentality. Athletes can demonstrate this by showing improvement on skills included in SC1 and the Preselection Toolkit.
In particular, we will be looking for athletes who have shown a dedication to the development of their disc skills by improving their consistency, control, creativity and variety of throws. Athletes and selectors will have the opportunity to track improvement against an SC1 benchmark.
We will also be looking for athletes who are creative and effective in pressured game scenarios. Athletes can demonstrate this by showing that they are able to enhance their individual athletic and disc skills with excellent spatial awareness, communication, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
We highly value athletes who bring a selfless style of play that shows faith in the team plan and prioritises team success.
